Maintenance & Examination
UK legislation requires that lifting equipment be thoroughly examined by a competent person in accordance with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER, 1998). In addition, work equipment, including lifting equipment is required to be regularly maintained in accordance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER, 1998). Our highly trained and knowledgeable engineering technicians all hold LEEA qualifications and carry the team card to demonstrate their ability to ensure equipment is compliant, safe and reliable.
Safe working is at the core of our engineering activity at AM Defence & Marine. We have invested heavily in both time and effort to bring our engineers to an industry leading standard and continue to provide Continuous Professional Development. All of our engineers work to method statements and risk assessments and deliver their engineering skills efficiently, and above all, safely.
Examinations of equipment are carried out in accordance with statutory regulations by our engineers in order to detect possible defects and ensure compliance. Regular servicing of work equipment is a legal requirement in addition to being a cost effective way of reducing downtime and extending the lifespan of the equipment. Defective equipment that is not beyond the ‘economic repair’ criteria is repaired on site or in one of our two workshops in an agreed timeframe. Testing is carried out in accordance with statutory and customer requirements. We have two fully equipped test houses in Dorset and Cornwall, UK. Where onsite testing is required, our engineers use water bags, live weights, test rigs and fully calibrated load measuring devices.
